Traditional Silk Weaving Demonstration

Join myself and Cas Ponta from WovenCobweb at the New Ashgate Gallery in Waggons Yard, Farnham on Friday, July 3rd, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM, as we dive into the enchanting world of handweaving!

We'll be showcasing the beautiful craft of weaving yarns on our trusty looms.

Don't miss the chance to witness the magic unfold as the warp and weft threads dance together to create patterns and vibrant colors!

Craft Your Year 2026 is organised by New Ashgate Gallery as part of the Farnham Craft Town programme. The workshops are supported by Farnham Town Council and the South Street Trust.

Craft Legacies Exhibition

The New Ashgate Gallery

I am excited to have been asked to take part in this upcoming exhibition celebrating Legacy craft in Surrey.

I am a self-taught handweaver based in Surrey, specialising in handwoven silk scarves created from silk yarns I dye myself before weaving.

My work celebrates the beauty and individuality of natural fibres, combining rich colour, texture, and traditional weaving techniques to produce contemporary textiles with a strong sense of craftsmanship.

Alongside silk, I also work with cotton, wool, and bamboo, creating both wearable pieces and textiles for the home.

My passion for silk weaving is closely connected to Surrey’s historic silk industry, once centred around towns such as Guildford and Spitalfields-linked weaving communities in the region.

With hand silk weaving now considered an endangered heritage craft in the UK, I am committed to helping keep these traditional skills alive through contemporary practice, demonstrations, and commissions, sharing the process and artistry of weaving with new audiences.

Led by New Ashgate Gallery. Funded by the Community Foundation for Surrey, made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and developed with the involvement of Farnham Assist, Farnham Library, Hale Community Centre, and DAiSY.

Autumn Exhibition

Once again, the West Surrey Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers are taking up residence at the prestigious Farnham Pottery for a week in October, During Farnham Craft month.

I am thrilled to be taking part in this again. Some of my woven textiles will be included in this exhibition, along with a vast eclectic selection from our members.

Unravel Autumn 2026

I'm delighted to be returning to Unravel Autumn at The Maltings, Farnham for a second year!

Join me over two days, Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September, where I'll be exhibiting a carefully selected range of weaving equipment and yarns. I'll have Louët and Schacht weaving products, beautiful Venne and Brassard yarns, and, of course, plenty of Texsolv heddles too.

Alongside the weaving supplies, I'll also have a small selection of my own handwoven silk scarves and textiles available to view and purchase. Throughout both days I'll be demonstrating on the loom, so you'll be able to see the weaving process in action, ask questions, and discover how these beautiful fabrics are created from thread to cloth.

Whether you're an experienced weaver, a curious beginner, or simply love beautifully crafted textiles, I'd be delighted to welcome you to my stand.

Discover handweaving this October!

I’m delighted to be taking part in Farnham Craft Month, opening my Jasmine Cottage Crafts studio in Frensham for the Farnham Craft Trail weekend on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October.

Come and discover what goes into creating handwoven cloth, see my looms and browse my handwoven textiles. Whether you’re curious about weaving, looking for a special handmade gift or simply enjoying a weekend exploring local creativity, I’d love to welcome you!

Have a go yourself

Throughout October, I’m also running weaving taster sessions every Thursday and Saturday, starting at 10:30am and 2pm.

These friendly, hands-on sessions are a lovely introduction to weaving, with no previous experience needed. You’ll weave on a ready-prepared loom, explore colour and texture, and create your own little piece of cloth to take home.

Choose from:

One hour — £20 per person
Two hours — £30 per person

With a maximum of two people per session, there’s plenty of individual guidance—come on your own or share the experience with a friend.

Please book your taster session in advance. If the advertised days or times don’t suit you, do get in touch. We can often arrange an alternative that works for us both.

Christmas Craft Fair at the Church of the Good Shepherd

There’s a little more than weaving keeping me busy this autumn! I’m organising a Christmas Craft Fair on behalf of Frensham Churches, and I’m looking forward to bringing together a lovely selection of local artists and makers for a day of festive shopping and creativity.

Our line-up already includes jewellery, pottery, embroidery, woodworking, lino-printed artwork, cards and homewares — and, of course, some of my own handwoven gifts! We’re still welcoming more artists and makers, so keep an eye out for further additions. Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful Christmas present, a little stocking filler or a treat for yourself, there will be plenty to browse.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet the people behind the handmade pieces, hear a little about their crafts and support local creative businesses.

If browsing inspires you to have a go yourself, visit our “make and take” table, where you can enjoy a creative activity and take your own creation home.

There will also be a raffle in aid of Frensham Churches, plus delicious hot and cold refreshments throughout the day — so bring a friend, enjoy something yummy and make an occasion of it!
